Late last week we told you about the major construction project coming to Caribbean Beach Resort that includes new waterfront dining and more. We heard a lot of worried comments on our Facebook page and now we have even more news to share.
According to emails received by Caribbean Beach Resort guests with stays beginning in late April and early May, all dining locations at the resort will be closed during this refurbishment period.
The email from Disney states that “Old Port Royale Food Court, Shutters at Old Port Royale, Banana Cabana Pool Bar, and Calypso Trading Post will be closed for refurbishment.” The email also states that other options will be available for guests including breakfast and dinner in Centertown, and grab-and-go options will be “available for purchase in three island markets located in the Aruba, Jamaica and Martinique.”
The closing date for both Old Port Royale and Shutters is reportedly April 27.
Disney has suggested that guests contact their booking agent with any additional questions. We have seen reports on some forums and discussion boards that guests are requesting to be moved to other resorts and some have succeeded.
UPDATE: We have more information about this closure! According to the most recent email being sent out, guests will find a Caribbean-themed buffet for breakfast in Centertown, with a la carte options at dinner. The grab-and-go items will be available all day in the three island markets. In-room pizza delivery will be available at the hotel throughout the construction project. Refillable mugs can be filled at Freestyle Coke machines located throughout the resort. And, a new quick service spot is opening this summer in Trinidad (it’ll likely be a walk-up window).
In other news – both Barbados and Martinique will be unavailable beginning in May.
Disney is also providing a $75 Disney Gift Card (per room) for each night of your stay. The Disney Dining Plan will be accepted for all of the new food offerings that begin in May.
And, the main pool will remain open. Work is expected to last two years.
